Honoring the achievers


Veteran actress Manorama and director Vasanth have made immense contributions to the filmdom. They deserve to be given due recognition, said cinematographer-director Balu Mahendra.
Speaking at a function organized by the Rotary Club to present the Life Time Achievement awards to Manorama and vocational excellence award to Vasanth in Chennai on Wednesday, Actor S.V. Shekhar who spoke on the occasion lauded their achievements.
Manorama, who carved a niche for herself in Tamil cinema, doing versatile roles in over 1300 films, has won several accolades and awards in her colossal career spanning for over five decades. Vasanth, who started her career under veteran director K Balachander, had rendered films like Keladi Kanmani, Asai, Rhythm and Nerukku Ner.
