Paruthiveeran Karthi seems to be in a jinx of sorts, his films never get completed in time, they make us wait for eternity. We all know that it took forever for Paruthiveeran to get to theaters. What happened once it got there is another story, but we are looking at the struggles to get it there. A shooting schedule that stretched for nearly 500 days and numerousdelays later, one cannot be surprised that there was a lot of news about director Ameer and the young actor having broken up. As the old saying goes, 'proximity breeds contempt' and their association stretched for over 18 months without an interval. News of the divide further strengthened when Karthi reportedly turned down Ameer's offer for Yogi, something that Ameer later took up himself. The reason cited for this is that Karthi did not want to get typecast in ruffian roles, but there are other theories as well.
Coming back to Karthi's jinx, what started with Paruthiveeran seems to have followed him into Selvaraghavan's Aayirathil Oruvan. The film has safely gone beyond the 500 day mark and has not shown many promising signs of getting into theaters, the only news being that Karthi has been officially released from all commitments having completed his portions. This means that Karthi has not been seen on the big screen for 2 months short of 2 years as of now and such a break can prove costly even to a prodigiously talented actor as Karthi.
People with good memories might remember the news of Karthi having signed up with Lingusaamy. Now, because of all the delays that Selvaraghavan and Aayirathil Oruvan brought about, this project got buried by time. But, now that Karthi is free it is being revived and for once, it seems that there are not many troubles to contend and if any don't crop up in the near future, it should get neatly wrapped up within a time frame that is considered normal in the industry.
Then, fresh news is that Karthi has given a nod to Bala's next project. Since when did Bala move on to his next project, you might wonder. It is justified bearing in mind the fact that Naan Kadavul seems to be still suspended in mid air with Arya's career precariously positioned. Well, Zee TV is believed to have paid both the actor and the director an amount each as advance and one can believe that they will not do such a thing without seeing sufficient reason. The question here is, Karthi has developed a jinxed reputation while Bala has been walking around with this tag for a few years now. Will this combination work well?
