VA premiere show – Suriya's charity!

Suriya's long-awaited Vaaranam Aayiram's premiere show was held in Sathyam last night as the movie is officially released all over today. The premiere was conducted as a charity show to raise funds for the TANKER (Tamilnad Kidney Research Foundation) organization that works towards providing financial assistance to people under the
poverty line with kidney related diseases. Suriya, incidentally, represents the organization as its ambassador and, as was revealed in the event donated liberally for the cause. The proceeds from the charity show went to TANKER, a non-profitable trust founded in 1993 by Dr. Georgi Abraham.
The premiere show was attended by Gautam Menon, Suriya, Suriya's mother, Sameera, Divya, Vijay Antony, producer Durai Dayanidhi Azhagiri and a host of other celebrities. The event was marked by brief speeches by the cast and the director, who also requested the thronging fans to donate liberally for the cause. The trustees presented mementos to the cast and the director. TANKER trustees also hailed Suriya and Gautam for supporting this noble cause and allowing the premiere to be conducted as a charity show. It is the first of its kind, it was told.
After repeated announcements from the organizers, the restless fans resumed their seats and the movie was screened after 10.30 p.m.
