Tamil Top Five Movies
Cast: Rajini, Pasupathy, Nayanthara, Meena, Sona, Vadivelu, Vijayakumar
Direction: P Vasu
Music: G V Prakash
Production: K Balachander
Rajini’s charm has obviously worked wonders for the opening of Kuselan, a friendship tale of two friends - of which one makes it big while the other still struggles. Superstar plays himself, although with a different name, in an almost real-life role and pulls it off with much ease.
Trade Talk:
The week and weekend has been promising, although the reviews showcase a mixed response.
Public Talk:
The high expectations, however, do not seem to have been matched.

Cast: Kamal Haasan, Asin, Mallika Sherawat, Jayapradha, Nagesh, Nepolean
Direction: K S Ravikumar
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Production: V Ravichandran
Kamal’s Dasavatharam, woven around the ten characters that he created, is unfailingly entertaining the audience even after weeks of its release. The galore of talented artistes and technicians also contributed to the success of the movie.
Trade Talk:
Trade has no reason to complain since the movie has already collected the investments during the first week of its release.
Public Talk:
Spellbound. But, what exactly was Mallika Sherawat’s contribution to the movie?

Cast: Jai, Swathy, Kanja Karuppu, Sasi Kumar, Samudhirakani
Direction: Sasi Kumar
Music: James Vasanthan
Production: Sasi Kumar
Lesser known artistes but bang-on script that explores the loyalty in love and friendship, Subramaniapuram has already proved that star power has nothing to do with the success of any movie.
Trade Talk:
Made on a shoe-string budget, the movie has already grossed enough returns to put a smile across the distributors’ faces.
Public Talk:
Jai – his prefix seems to have changed from Chennai 28 Jai to Subramaniapuram Jai!

Cast: Bharath, Poorna, Ponvannan, Vadivelu
Direction: Thirumurugan
Music: Vidyasagar

Bharath – Thirumurugan team has hit the bull’s eye yet again with an unassuming tale between a father and a son set in a village milieu. Thirumurugan hasn’t digressed a bit from his formula, though.

Rural centers are bringing in returns.
