80th birth anniversary of Nadigar Thilagam Dr Sivaji Ganesan was celebrated of in a grand and in relevance of paying homage, few versatile celebrities were honored at Kalaignar Arangam in Chennai.
Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi appeared and at this gracious occasion release of a special cover honoring the Travancore sisters Lalitha, Padmini and Ragini were done. Family members of the celebrities were there receiving the first special covers in the presence of Post Master General Indra Krishnakumar and special guests Sivakumar and Vairamuthu.
KR Vijaya, B Saroja Devi and Sachu who paired up with Sivaji Ganeshan along with film collector Film News Anandan were honored during the occasion. Totting up to the list of recipients, dialogue writer Aaroor Das and music director TK Ramamurthy were also honoured…
The award is inclusive of a citation and a cheque for Rs 50,000/- and it was distributed to these artistes and. it was announced that Lata Mangeshkar was the one who stated about honoring this versatile personalities and it has been followed regularly by sons of Sivaji, Ramkumar and Prabhu
Actor Sivakumar had the spotlights turned on him during the occasion as he uttered the dialogues of Sivaji Ganeshan from the films like Parasakthi and Veerapandiya Kattabomman.
Lyricist Vairamuthu on his turn spoke about how he shared good rapport with Sivaji Ganeshan and stated that the veteran had good sense of humor. Also added that secret of Sivaji’s success ware merely his simplicity and hard work.
Finally, Chief Minister spoke on the occasion speaking about his close relation with the versatile personality from the early days of his life till the day he had installed his statue at Marina Beach… In turn, Prabhu thanked his chief minister for extending his wholehearted love for his father and making him immortal by installing the statue at the centre of city.
