In a press release the Producer’s Council announced that a fee of Rs. 1 lack will be charged it they want to telecast movie trailer, song and other promotional material for new movies.
It seems that this way the council might generate more revenue for the new movies they produce. The channels that are exempted from this are Sun TV, Kalignar TV, Doordarshan, Jaya TV, Raj TV and Zee Tamil. These channels are excused because they regularly obtain new Tamil movie rights.
