Is Prakashraj's movie worth a national award?

Kanchivaram, about the plight of weavers in the Kanchivaram district of Tamil Nadu was screened recently at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie, set in the 1940s revolves around the story of a silk weaver, played by Prakashraj and his dream of weaving a silk sari for his daughter's wedding. Music for
Kanchivaram is scored by the Malayalam singer M.G. Sreekumar.
In a recent media interaction, Priyadarshan vouched for the film's art director Sabu Cyril and assured that Kanchivaram would fetch Sabu a national award. The award, however, is not new to Sabu, for he received the same for another Priyadarshan movie 'Kaala Pani' in the year 1995.
Priyan, meanwhile, is busy making arrangements for Kanchivaram's release in India.
