Saa Poo Thri: Contemporary love and dating

Debutante director Arshad Khan today convened a press meet at the Nadigar Sangam office in Chennai to reveal details about his upcoming film Saa Poo Thri. The title suggests a playful kind of movie for children, but the director gives a different explanation. He says that Saa stands for ‘Saarthvikam’, Poo for ‘Poorthi’ and Thri stands for ‘thrill’. The movie is about love that is platonic (saarthvikam), complete (poorthi) and thrilling, hence the contraction Saa Poo Thri.

Arshad Khan also plays the lead character in the movie; that of a 18 year old boy who develops a fascination for a woman more than 10 years elder to him. Singer Ujjaini, for the first time on the big screen, plays the object of his interest. Other characters in the movie are a young girl who is in love with the hero who does not reciprocate her feelings, another young man whose love for a girl remains unrequited and a newly married software professional who is not able to spend enough time with his wife. The movie will be a contemporary urbane account of relationships and dating, which the director expects will be liked by most of the city youngsters. They will be able to connect their lives to the goings on in the movie, he feels.
Saa Poo Thri is being produced by Ramesh Khanna, Arshad Khan has handled story, screenplay and dialogues. Music has been scored by Abbas Rafi and the camera has been handled by Sanjay. The talkie portion of the movie has been completely shot, only the songs remain. The release date is yet to be announced.
