Ilayaraja’s snub to Mysskin

The audio launch of Valmiki took place at the Sathyam Theatre Complex. While the audio was released by directors Lingusamy and Shankar, it was received by the entire Valmiki team.
What’s novel about the launch was that seven lyricists Yugabharathi, Viveka, Thamarai, Pa. Vijay, Na. Muthukumar and Tabu Shankar gave their comments about the lyrics penned by veteran lyricist Vaali in the film with each one picking out one of the songs.
Speaking at the function, director Mysskin was all praises for maestro Ilayaraja. He said that any director, no matter how many films he or she has directed, will not get complete career satisfaction unless he works with Ilayaraja.
Reacting to this statement, Ilayaraja said that he offered to work with young directors only to give them a chance to prove themselves. He added that when he was youngster, he got a chance from Panchu Arunachalam and he had made the best use of it. The expert music director stated that he is not looking for any mediator to get him chances at this stage of his life and he never had one before. Ilayaraja chastised Mysskin by stating that he refused to attend such events as he does not want to get caught up in hypocrisy. Soon after his hot and fiery speech, the musician left the stage in a hurry.
