Its All in the Kiss
A kiss can make or mar the life of a movie. Movie makers these days have shed the embaressment and have started including lip-locks between hero-heroines in their movies. Kissing scenes not only creates sensation and hype, but also adds popularity to both the movie and the crew of the movie. It attracts audience as well as the censor board. Sometimes fake reviews create a grapevine out of a film just to beckon the viewers to the theatre. But it ends up disappointment when one doesn't find any lovey-dovey kisses in it. Films like Kulir 100, Thoranai, Sarvam, Brahmadeva and Ladam generated sad responses from audience when they didnt get to see the sensational kisses as promoted by the pre-release publicity. According to an eminent producer, kissing scenes promotes a movie more faster and generates lot of reviews and hype. Thus, movie makers take refuge in releasing promotional kiss scenes to make a buzz about the movie. SJ Surya's movie New and Simbu's Vallavan released posters showing ravshing kiss scenes before the release of their movies. But as they say everything is not stable, this kissing scenerio has its own limitations. Airing similar views is Mr. Sekhar, Chennai's leading film mediator, who negotiates the area wise sale of films to distributors based on the films' album and poster designs. He says that the audience have become too smart to get fooled by these publicity gimmicks. thus, all the recent films with lip locks have failed to make it to the box office. Vikram-Shriya starring flick Kanthaswamy and Prasanna-Bala-Sandhya starring Manjal Veyyil are the much awaited movie that promises the audience the sensual and screen-oggling kisses. Now only the release of these movies only will tell how true the rumours are. Some express it out some hide it. The actors either shy away from doing the kissing stunts or dare it out. Nithin Satya and Manjari Fadnis are said to be kissing in Mutthirai. Though the actress denies it, the hero confessed it to the media that such a scene was canned by the director Srinath, who is trying to play it low. So kiss or not, the movie makers definately cant take a chance to miss a hype.
