Yogi is a movie that dwells on the life of a youth in Chennai slum, says Ameer. Yogi is the maiden venture of Ameer as hero. The movie is directed by Subramania Siva. Produced by Ameer’s home production Team Works at a cost of Rs 11 crore, plans are on to release the movie this Deepavali. Ameer says, ‘I took it as a challenge to do the lead role. I did rigorous workouts, reduced my weight and went under strict diet and prepared myself for the role’.
On working with Subramania Siva, he says, ‘ people know him as Manmadha Rasa director. But he managed to render a serious romantic story in a lighter vein in Thiruda Thirudi. I was impressed with his work when I shot for Yogi. He is sure to go places after Yogi’. he says, ‘ it is no easy task to shoot in Chennai. Just to shoot one scene we waited patiently for several weeks and incurred huge cost. The whole team worked hard. Yuvanshankar Raja’s music is another highlight of the film’.
