Cheran's Justification of Hollywood and World Cinema Remakes

It was a ludicrous statement marked by Cheran as the filmmaker came up with the attempts of trivializing the remake factors. It was during a special session as filmmakers SP Jananathan, Cheran, Sasikumar, Samuthirakani, Mysskin and others gathered for an interaction session.

During the session, Cheran said, “I am wondering why people are so fanatic about criticizing remake of films. ‘Nandhalala’ is not a remake of ‘Kikujiro’, but an inspiration. The cell phones were invented by Japan and more gadgets by USA. Aren’t we using them for our daily purposes?”

Ever since the reviews were published in favor of ‘Nandhalala’, Mysskin become overconfident and uttered that he would dedicate the film ‘Nandhalala’ to Japanese filmmaker Takeshi Kitano (maker of ‘Kikujiro’) and wants to screen the film for him.

Well Cheran must be as prepared with such advocacies as his yesteryear films were inspired from foreign films – Autograph (Italian-French movie Al di là delle nuvole), Thavamai Thavamirundhu (Cinema Paradiso).
