Mani Ratnam selects Mysore Palace

Maverick director Mani Ratnam films are special known for the sets erected, elegance in making the film, exotic locations, music, casting and what not every facet counts in his films.
Now for his magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, Maniratnam selected one of the historical places, the Mysore Palace located in Mysore. By shooting at this palace Mani brings more grandeur to this epic. The film narrates the reign of Raja raja Cholan of the Chola Dynasty during the 10th-11th century. Recently Mani Ratnam along with his close team members met the Mysore Palace Mandali deputy director P.V.Avaradhi for seeking permission for the shoot.
Infact Mysore palace and its next-door Lalitha Mahal Palace are always in demand by our filmmakers especially for periodic films and also the song sequences.
