Tamil actor Alex died at a private hospital in Chennai following a brief illness. He was 52 and is survived by his wife and two daughters. Alex had debuted in films with the Rajinikanth-starrer Valli'. Industry sources said he had acted in over 100 films, playing the role of villian in many. He was well-known as a magician before he entered movie world. He had won the best character actor award from the state government for a role he played in the Simran starrer Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi'.
