Bomb blasting Mani
Mani Ratnam, on the sets of ‘Raavan’ that is almost complete, shot a risky scene along with the stunt director, Sham Kaushal who worked on every aspect of the scene to come out well.
Inspired by a real life incident that happened to Mani Ratnam, he wanted a similar scene with a petrol bomb that blasts while the lead pair Aishwarya Rai and Vikram walk in front of it.
The scene was such that the bomb blasts in mid-air, just before it lands on the ground. The actors were only 15 feet before the point of landing, and Vikram and Aishwarya had agreed to do the risky scene as Mani thought would appear great on screen.
Once the risky scene was over, Mani was happy with the end product and congratulated the actors and Sham Kaushal for the dedication.
This is not the first time Mani Ratnam has tried something risky, even during the shooting of ‘Bombay’ and escaped from an accident.
With so much effort being put in the movie, let us hope nothing else bombs!
Comedian Madan Bob escapes with minor injuries
Madan Bob, Vivek and Manobala provide the comedy element in the film.
To take part in the shooting, Madan Bob and his assistants were traveling in a luxury car yesterday morning from Thirunelveli. Near Vagaikulam, a dog ran across the road. To avoid it, the driver slammed on the brakes and when the speeding car came to this sudden halt, it toppled over. Fortunately, Madan Bob, his assistant and the driver escaped with minor injuries in this accident.
Madan Bob went to a private hospital in Tuticorin and is fine after being treated for his injuries.

'Sura'-Music Review
Nothing seemed to stop the irresistible excitements of ‘Ilayathalapathy’ fans as they’ve been eagerly awaiting his 50th film ‘Sura’. With Sun Pictures planning to release the film on April 14, the audio was launched last evening at Lady Andal School. Mani Sharma’s musical touch is sure to enthrall Vijay’s fans for its prototyped musical style. The album has 6 tracks amongst which couple of songs has been replicated from Manisharma’s Telugu album ‘Billa’.
Thanjavoor Jillakkari...
Singers:Hemachandra & Saindhavi
Lyricist:Na.Muthukumar
If you had ever heard Manisharma’s ‘Bommali’ in Telugu version of ‘Billa’, this wouldn’t keep you engrossed as the tunes are exactly the same. Somehow, the music director has tried shifting the nature of music on certain levels to suit the Tamil lyrics. Hemachandra, the same singer who crooned the Telugu song has rendered his voice for this song as well. Nothing special to mention about Na. Muthukumar’s lyrical lines as they’re simple and okay to hum along with tracks.
Vettri Kodi Yeathu...
Singers:Ranjith & Mukesh
Lyrics:Vaali, S.P. Rajkumar
Filmmaker S.P. Rajkumar and ace Vaali have penned lyrics that have positive vibrations for heeders, in particular for Vijay fans. The song has been tuned in the similar style of ‘Kannai Kattai Kolladhe’ in ‘Iruvar’. The prelude in flute catches up our attention while it may take some more time for this song to take on high interests.
Siragadikkum Nilavu...
Singers:Karthik & Reeta
Lyrics:Sneghan
The sensuous duet starts off with a mellisonant saxophone that is later followed by tunes, which is again a slight copycat of yesteryear Telugu song. The chorus and interludes is presented with a touch of A.R. Rahman’s stringed works and beats on Telephone Manipol’ in ‘Indian’. They lyrics are completely wavering and fail to hold your attention. Maybe, the continuous airing on satellite networks will preferably work out better results.
Vanga Kadal Ellai...
Singers:Naveen & Malathi
Lyrics:Kabilan
It’s a self-aggrandizing song that has Naveen shifting his paradigms on different phonations. Of course, his style of rendition sounds completely different from the other song ‘Naan Nadanthal’. Mani Sharma could’ve have opted for some other singer to avoid overdosed screech. The song is sure to be a favorite number well-tailored for Vijay fans.
Thamizhan Veera Thamizhan....
Singers:Rahul Nambiar
Lyrics:Kabilan
The stringed instrumentals and rhythmic pattern on accompaniment beats blatantly reminiscences the theme music of Malayalam film ‘Chotta Mumbai’. Mani Sharma has smartly depicted the difference with Rahul Nambiar’s crooning style and lyrics by Kabilan make it dissimilar. But in all likelihood, the song has lots of similarities including the humming part at end.
Naam Nadanthal Athiradi...
Singers:Naveen, Shoba Chandrasekhar & Janani Madhan
Lyrics:Kabilan
Finally, it’s one more replication from Mani Sharma’s yesteryear composition of ‘My Name is Billa’. It looks like the music director hasn’t anything special for the Tamil version, thereby patently adjusting lyrics on rhyming patterns for adjusting his track. Naveen makes it sound at best and Vijay’s mother Shoba Chandrasekhar along with Janani Madhan has done their parts well. But for those, who have heard the Telugu version that had realms of heroism, this may not be quite appropriate. On the whole, the album of ‘Sura’ has no surprises most of the songs have been already heard ones. Naturally, with Sun Pictures publicizing the songs throughout its networks may popularize it vigorously. Couple of songs ‘Tamizhan Veera Tamizhan’ and ‘Vanga Kadal Ellai’ is best picks in this album.
Verdict: A new album with old Tunes,Banner: Murugan Cine Arts, Sun Pictures,Production: Sangli Murugan, Kalanidhi Maaran,Direction: S.P. Rajkumar,Star-casts: Vijay, Thamanah, Vadivelu, Sriman, Dev Gill, Yuvarani and others,Music: Mani Sharma

I have narrated all these with action and sentiment.Nala Thambi has composed the music for the lyrics penned by Snegan. The highlight of this film is dialogues. Producer Tamizh Amudhan has written lively dialogues. I have directed this film with the notion that all the audience should enjoy this film.”

Utthamaputhiran is a film which has Dhanush in the lead role. Now Salman Khan is acting in the Hindi remake of this film. Though I act in commercial roles, I am bringing out my acting skills. I am doing this right from the beginning.”
Nayanthara is upset over rumors
There are lot of rumors these days about Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva. Nayanthara who is currently in Hyderabad while speaking to the media said,” I came to cinema in 2003.
At that time I did not have any big aim. I thought of quitting films after acting in a film. But time has made me an eternal actress. Name and fame flooded me. I will be happy if my film is a hit and sad if it is a flop. But for time being a situation has never risen to make me sad. The Tamil film Aadhavan, Malayalam film Body Guard and Telugu film Adurs in which I have done the female lead role were great hits.
What else can give me that much happiness. People who meet me ask that Meena and Navya Nair has got married, when will be my marriage. I don’t have the answer for this question. Marriage is an important thing in one’s life. It will not happen when we wish. It will happen when the time comes.
I will not oppose marriae love and at the same time I am not against the marriage arranged by parents. In case if my marriage will be a love marriage. It will take place only with the approval of my parents and brother in Dubai. There are lot of rumors about me these days. I don’t want to comment about it. Earlier these rumors use to hurt me. Now I am used to it. My parents have faith in me.”
Kamal and me: Trisha
“It was my dream to act with Kamal Haasan right from the day I entered film industry. I was on cloud nine when I was roped in for ‘Marmayogi’. But the joy didn’t last long as the film was stopped due to unavoidable reasons,” says Trisha.
“And I am on cloud nine again,” the actress says and adds: “Because, I am there in Kamal sir’s next film. I signed the film simply after hearing the story over the phone. How could I reject an offer to work with such a genius?”
Heaping laurels on the ‘Ulaga Nayagan’, she says, “He is one of the most intelligent persons I have ever met. He is a master of all subjects and knows anything and everything. You can discuss with him whatever you want.”
On her Hindi debut ‘Khatta Meetha’, directed by Priyadarshan with Akshay Kumar in the lead, Trisha says, “Most part of the shoot is over and a 15-day schedule alone is left. The film has come out well and it’s going to be a perfect launch for me in Bollywood. I enjoyed acting with Akshay Kumar”.
Shruthi Hassan denies her love with Siddarth
It is a great thing to be introduced by a talented director. Talks are also going on with regard to me acting in a couple of Hindi films. I am dad’s pet. Because of this people are telling me that I am aloof from my mother. It is my mother who introduced me to the world. I am ever indebted to her.”
Perarasu to produce a film
In between I am directing a village story based on our culture. There will be no commercial elements in this film. The hero of this film will be a new face. I am selecting other actors from Karaikkudi and Usilampatti. In Thirupachi I have touched a village story. The film which I will be directing now will be totally shot in village.”

I have that freedom to speak: Kushboo
Kushboo is all smiles these days, with support coming to her comments on premarital sex from a body no lesser than Supreme Court. The apex court’s observation that there was nothing illegal about live-in relationships and premarital sex amongst adults has boosted the morale of the actress.
Says Kushboo, who is known for her fearless remarks irrespective of the issue she is talking about, “We have a completely dependable judiciary. And I feel it now more than ever. The Supreme Court’s direction clearly shows freedom of speech does exist in India.”

‘Yamma Yamma’ by Perarasu, TR
The ‘Ammadi Aathadi…’ duo is back. Perhaps encouraged by the reach of the ‘Vallavan’ song, Vijaya T Rajendar has once again crooned a number which has lyrics penned by Perarasu for the latter’s directorial venture ‘Thiruthani’.
The song ‘Yamma….Yamma….’ composed by Perarasu himself was recently recorded in Chennai and it was shot in and around Thenkasi on Bharath and Sunaina, the lead pair of the movie. Says Perarasu, “I am taking the avatar of a music composer in Thiruthani. All the songs have come out well with the one sung by Vijaya T Rajendar being the highlight. I admire TR a lot and follow his footsteps by donning many hats while making a movie.”
The filmmaker, who says his next film will be produced by himself, adds: “It will be a village based subject, which will be shot in Karaikudi and Usilampatti. I have a penchant for villages and one could have noticed it in my first two films- Thirupachi and Sivakasi.”
I enjoy my work: Tamannah
While everyone attributes their success to hard work and dedication, the petite beauty says, "I am lucky. Fortune has come calling and it has helped me be where I am today".
The girl from Mumbai had a jinxed start to her career when she made her debut in Kollywood with 'Kedi'. However she overcame all odds with a spirited performance in 'Kalloori'. Also, the success of Telugu film 'Happy Days' propelled her career.
"I consider myself lucky to have made it big. There are umpteen number of actresses who also work hard, but success has been eluding them. Hence I am fortunate," she says.
About her forthcoming releases, she says, "I play an interesting role in ‘Paiyaa’. The moment director Lingusamy narrated the story to me, I fell in love with it. Vijay's 'Sura' features me in an interesting role, while rarely an actress can come across a role like the one I am doing opposite ‘Jayam’ Ravi in ‘Thillalangadi’."
'Avatar' scores 100 in India

Released majorly in three Indian languages - namely, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, and English, Avatar has grossed over Rs. 1.05 billion in this country. The 3D collections of the film are estimated at forming 37% of the total collections. Trade pundits put the collections of the English version at half a billion rupees, while the Hindi version has collected Rs. 27 crores. The Telugu and Tamil versions combined have generated over Rs. 25 crores.

Shruthi admires Suriya
Shruthi is excited that her acting debut in Tamil will be with Suriya, in a film directed by A R Murugadoss and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin.
“I am happy to be part of the project,” the eldest daughter of Kamal Haasan says, heaping laurels on the actor.
“I am a big fan of Suriya. He is one of the powerful actors we have today and I am thrilled to share the screen space with him. I guess we will make a great pair. I am eagerly waiting for the film to go on floors,” she says.
Denying reports that she is seeing ‘Boys’ fame Siddarth, Shruthi says, “We are good friends and he is a nice co-star. I learnt a lot from him. But there is no truth in reports that we are in love with each other.”
Saying she is planning to stay in Mumbai thanks to offers from Bollywood, the actress-musician adds, her heart however will always be in Chennai. “Because it’s my dad’s place and a city where I grew up. Chennai is where my heart is.”
