Priest 3D is chilling

Priest starring Paul Bettany and directed by Scott Stewart was released on May 13^th and is sending chills down the spines of viewers. Bettany and Stewart have come together after the success of their 2010 film, Legion. The eerie plot and stunning special effects of Priest make for one spectacular film.

Based on a Korean comic, Priest takes us into a world where humans and vampires have been battling it out for ascendancy for as far as anyone can remember. In a decisive battle, the Vampires are destroyed and the humans seek refuge in a secret location in the middle of the desert. When the warrior Priest’s (Bettany) daughter is kidnapped by the Vampires he defies his superiors in the Church who have led the fight against the Vampires and teams up with his daughter’s boyfriend (Cam Gigandet) and a Priestess (Maggie Q) to get her back and crush the Vampires forever.

The film was delayed in order to convert it into 3D and enhance the spectacular action sequences. The makers and audiences alike seem to be happy with the results.

'Priest' Dubbed in Tamil as ‘Kallarai Ulagam’

3D films were once a wondering thing for the audiences. But in the recent times, we tend to notice that almost all the flicks from Hollywood belonging to various genres are formatted with 3D. Here comes another flick titled ‘Priest’, an ultimate edge-seated sci-fi thriller. The film is scheduled to hit screens on May 13 and is released by Sony Pictures.

Set in backdrops of post-apocalyptic world, the film revolves around an exiled warrior who sets ou to wage war against the empire of deadly vampires that have taken his sister. Along his side are his sister’s boyfriend and a warrior princess.

The film based on the graphic novel titled ‘Priest’ authored by Min-Woo Hyung and directed by Scott Charles Stewart features Paul Bethany in lead role as the Priest while Cam Gigandet and Maggie Q perform important roles.

Oscar winner no more

Hollywood diva Elizabeth Taylor passed away on 23 March 2011 after suffering from various health issues since 2001. The actress was diagnosed of heart disease several years ago and was operated for it in 2009. However, due to other health issues, Taylor failed to recuperate, leading to her death yesterday.
This two-time Oscar winner entered the film industry at a very young age of 12 and since then donned the greasepaint for various roles which include the immortalized Cleopatra. Taylor is also known for her infamous marriages and has entered the wedlock eight times all resulting in divorce at some stage or the other.

Spider Man to ‘Amaze’ in July 3 2012

The friendly neighborhood spider man in its third establishment will be known as ‘The Amazing Spider Man’. Columbia Pictures announced the title of the next Spider-Man film yesterday.

The studio simultaneously released a photo of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, the first shot of Garfield in the famous full mask and suit.See the picture.

The film, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 3, 2012.  The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, and Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen, and Sally Field.

The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the Marvel Entertainment production for Columbia Pictures.

The executive producers are Stan Lee, Kevin Feige, and Michael Grillo.

The Kings Speech Won 6 BAFTA awards

The King's Speech received yet more accolades at last night's Baftas ceremony with a best actor award for Colin Firth and supporting actor gongs for Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush. The film is a dramatisation of the months running up to and after King George VI's ascension to the throne in 1936 and the effects of his stammer. Lionel Logue, played by Rush, is the Australian who employs unorthodox techniques to help the King (Firth) overcome his fear of public speaking.

The new face of Superman

It is always considered a privilege when it comes to donning the roles of super heroes. Be it Batman, Spiderman, James Bond or Superman. Talks are abuzz in Hollywood that a new face has been chosen to don the Superman’s cape.

The role has gone to UK-based actor Henry Cavill who will soon be up, up and away!

The next Superman film, which is in the pre-production stage, will be produced by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film which has not yet been named will be directed by Zack Snyder. Reports indicate that the director is quite happy with the choice of the hero for this film. The Superman fiction is slated for release by the end of 2012.

Sources reveal that, Mr. Cavill who is a relatively low-profile actor, was earlier considered for roles such as James Bond and Batman but for reasons unknown didn’t make it.

Henry Cavill has starred in ‘The Tudors’ as Charles Brandon the first Duke of Suffolk.

‘I Am Number Four’ on Feb 18

Looks like the biggies of Hollywood have lined up for a February release. Feb 18 will see the release of the Steven Spielberg film ‘I Am Number Four’. The film which has been conceptualized from the book bearing the same name belongs to the sci-fi genre.

The book ‘I Am Number Four’ is a young teen science fiction novel written by James Frey and Jobie Hughes.

The story deals with the story of John Smith, a 15 year old alien from the planet Lorien, and his guardian, Henri. The story describes their escape from the Mogadorians, another race of aliens that are hunting down John and the other 8 teenage Loriens who have been sent to Earth to escape their destroyers. The teenagers are protected by a charm, which only allows them to be killed in a set order. John is Number Four.

This novel is said to be the first of its series in a six-book series.

The director of this film is D.J. Caruso. Dreamworks Pictures got the rights for this film in June 2009. This Spielberg flick is being presented by Dreamworks Pictures and Reliance Big Entertainment.

Alex Pettyfer plays John’s role in the film. The female lead role will be essayed by Dianna Agron who appeared in the television serial ‘Glee’.

'The Green Hornet' – Action Packed Entertainer

Experience the edge-seated action packed entertainer with 3D visuals. ‘The Green Hornet’ has been the most common term used in USA. It has been a familiar word in radio channels, Televisions and even comic books. Now the producers of Columbia Pictures have produced a film with the same title that features famous Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Christopher Waltz in lead roles.

The film had a grand opening internationally on January 14 and will hit screens in Chennai on January 28.

The film revolves around Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), who takes over the job of new publisher of famous Los Angeles Newspaper ‘The Daily Sentinel’ after the demise of his father. Britt’s life takes a turn when he and his team stop a robbery. Now he takes up the new avatar of a superhero named ‘The Green Hornet’ and starts fighting against the crime.

The film is directed by Michel Gondry and is produced by Neal Moritz while Sony Pictures is releasing it.

Yuvan Shankar Raja wants to compose music for Hollywood films

Music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja has recently mentioned that he has a desire to compose music for Hollywood films and he is making efforts to reach that destination.

While speaking about this to the media, he said," I am joining with Selvaraghavan once again. I am composing music for a film titled Irandam Ulagam directed by him. Dhanush and Andrea are in the lead roles. I have given hit songs along with Selvaraghavan.

Now I am happy that I am joining with him once again. This year, the music which I have composed for the songs in the films Paiyya, Naan Mahan Alla and Boss Engira Bhaskaran have topped the charts.

Though I like all the songs composed by me, the song Iragai Pola from the film Naan Mahan Alla is my favourite. Many are asking me that how long I am going to be alone. I am planning to get married next year."

Jennifer Aniston And Robert Pattinson Rumors

Jennifer Aniston has now dismissed all the rumors that she was interested in filming intimate scenes with Robert from a remake of the movie “The Graduate”. ”The Graduate” had Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft as the lead pair. a source from Aniston’s side has added that there is no truth in the rumors.

Reports were doing the rounds that Jennifer was looking forward to work with Robert in an upcoming movie an even asked her agents to fix up a meeting. HOLD MY HAND" MICHAEL JACKSON

The single ‘Hold My Hand’ from the album Michael was released on November 15th at the web site www.michaeljackson.com. This was a duet that the late singer recorded with Akon in 2007 but unfortunately the song was leaked despite being incomplete.

The final version of Hold My Hand was completed by Akon recently and was released worldwide.

Singer and television personality Jessica Simpson on Sunday got engaged with her boyfriend and former NFL player Eric Johnson, Simpson and Johnson have been dating since last May. Johnson, 30, is a former tight end that played for seven years in the National Football League (NFL).
Both Simpson and Johnson will get married for the second time. Simpson, 31, was married to signer Nick Lachey with whom starred Newlyweds, a reality show that depicted the life of the two then recently married singers. The pair divorced in 2006 and Lachey announced a few weeks ago his engagement to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, a former host of MTV. Bill Clinton in ‘Hangover-2’

They made us watch it over and again. For the first time, the Chennai multiplexes were studded with repeated audiences for this film and now they are back. The ‘Hangover’ team is back with the sequel that will hit screens by the mid-of-next year.

The first part had World renowned boxer Mike Tyson playing the cameo role, which indeed happened to be the turning point in film. Now director Todd Philips has signed former US President Bill Clinton for an important role in this sequel. Scenes pertaining to him were shot at the scenic backdrops of Thailand.

Jolie Denies Rumours Related To Directorial Debut

Angelina Jolie has rubbished reports that her directorial debut involves a rape victim who falls in love with her rapist. The rumours made rounds following a denial of filming permit in Bosnia because no screenplay was attached to the application, as required by law.
“There are many twists in the plot that address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters, and that will be revealed once the film is released. My hope is that people will hold judgment until they have seen the film,” Usmagazine quoted Jolie as saying. A source also said, “This is not the story in the script. There are people trying to sabotage the movie.” Jolie said in a statement that she wants the women victims of war association in Bosnia to know that she plans to direct the film with the utmost sensitivity. “Obviously, any dramatic interpretation will always fail those who have had a real experience,” she concluded. Shawshank Redemption-Thottupaar: Cut,Copy and Paste

Previously we presented a blatant copycat of Hollywood’s ‘Uninvited’ poster in ‘Nil Gavani Selladhe’. The other fact about the film’s plot inspired from ‘Wrong Turn’ is again a striking similarity. And again, there is a replica of Hollywood’s most famous film ‘Shawshank Redemption’.

It is the trademark poster of Tim Robbins as he raises his hands upon the heavy showers of rain soon after escaping out of World’s largest high-security prison of Shawshank.

The creative department of ‘Thottupaar’ has exactly copycatted the poster even without changing its shades.

‘Thottupaar’ is directed K.T. Nandu and is produced by Tholpavai Theatres. Kalaipuli S Dhanu of V Creations has released the film. Newcomers Viddarth and Lakshana have donned lead characters while Ramana takes on a challenging role of a villainous eunuch.

Harry Potter 7 – a Boon or Disappointment?

After lots of disappointments with the 3D films in Hollywood, the Warner Bros producers have decided to stop converting their next film ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ from 2D into 3D. It happened because of poor quality of conversions in certain films – ‘Clash of the Titans’ and ‘The Last Airbender’. These films were criticized for its poor technology of 3D conversion.

Through an official press report, the Warner Bros Studio has accepted that it was a difficult task to convert the film and come up with the final product top-notching in quality. Their motto is to entertain the audiences with the concluding saga of Harry Potter series. JK Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows’ will be made in two parts. With the Part 1 hitting screens on November 19, 2010, the second part has been planned for a release in July, 2011.

According to the sources, the second part will be in both 2D and 3D Format.

Meanwhile, it’s going to be a much fascinating combat between the Hollywood films as ‘Star Wars’ too will be released in 3D Format along with James Cameron’s history making film ‘Titanic’.
