Amitabh Bachchan will be discharged in a day from the Lilavati hospital, Mumbai, where he had been rushed to on Saturday, which happened to be his 66th birthday. He had suddenly complained of abdominal pain, and right after Jaya, Abhishek, Aishwarya and daughter Shweta took him to the hospital.
He was placed under observation and several tests were conducted. "He's had a restful night and the tests do not show any abnormality," said Dr. Narendra Trivedi, the vice president of the hospital. He has responded well to our line of treatment and will be discharged in a few days."
Meanwhile, many fans and reporters kept an overnight vigil outside the hospital. Earlier in the week, the Big B had been shooting in the city for the Hindi film Teen Patti. It's well know that he underwent surgery for an intestinal problem two years ago. Abhishek told reporters that his father was suffering from an "intestinal obstruction." He asked fans to pray for his father's speedy recovery.
