Prashanth’s magnum opus Ponnar Shankar, produced and directed by his father Thiagarajan, has opened to great response from both critics and audiences alike. The film, which graced theatres on Friday, narrates the story of two brave brothers (Ponnar and Sankar) of Kong Ponnaru Nadu (present districts of Coimbatore, Erode, Karur, and parts of Tiruchi and Madurai).
The film is about the bravery of these brothers and their camaraderie. The film also stars Sneha, Jayaram, Khushbu, Prakashraj, Napoleon, Rajkiran and Vijayakumar in prominent roles.
Newcomers Pooja Chopra and Divya Parameshwaran are the heroines. The movie has been adapted from a book written by Kalaignar Dr. M. Karunanidhi.
