The actress had to refuse more offers in Kollywood, as she became busier with Kannada projects.Now, Pooja Gandhi happens to be on top of charts in Kannada Film Industry. After having acted in so many Kannada films, the actress has gained mastery over the language. Now, she has started dubbing with her own voice for her upcoming Kannada films including ‘Neenakaagai Kaadiruve’ (I will wait you).‘Neenakaagi Kaadiruve’ was a long term project that was supposed to hit screens earlier this year and due to some constraints got shelved down. The film features Vishal Hegde in lead roles with Jolly Bastin wielding the megaphone.

Jeyam Ravi is on cloud nine post the success of Peraanmai. He has been receiving rave reviews about his performance as Dhruvan, the tribal forest officer, a far cry from his usual chocolate boy image. Going on a strict diet for one year and learning archery and undergoing training for the role, Ravi has worked hard to get the right look for the film. Speaking to Top 10 Cinema he reveals how the project has changed his life..How does it feel to be receive such kudos for your performance?It feels great. But it was all team work. I have many people to thank. Producers Ayngaran arranged funds for the Satellite and space work and were staunchly supporting us for one and half years. The five heroines left other films to work in this one and went through a grueling drill for it. Director Jananathan taught me so much during the making of this film. Associate director Kalyan is someone I will never forget. I am doing a film with him soon.How has Peraanmai affected you as a person?In order to be remembered by the people, a film should have a soul in it. I could feel this after I did Peraanmai. From now on, any character I do will have more depth and I will try to make it memorable for the people.Has your image changed now from the lover boy one?Yes, earlier I was stuck in the lover boy mode and with my kind of acting. But being directed by Jananathan sir has changed all that. He has taught me so much about myself that I didn’t believe I had in me before this film. Breaking the romantic image without a love interest in the film added respect for the character of Dhruvan who is man bound by duty.Did you do any reading like your character in the film?I did read some of those books to portray my character convincingly. Mainly I went by my director’s words. He explained everything to me. He has a universal brain that knows about almost everything!

Nichole in her native place

The shooting of the Naikutty which has Nicole in the cast has been completed. The shooting of her next film commences in January.

Because of this Nichole has gone to her native place Pune to celebrate Christmas. Nichole said,” I am donning the role of a bubbly and lively village girl role in this film. There was a lot of scope for acting in this film. So I had happily acted in this film.
I got lot of offers for acting in glamour roles. But I refused them. The shooting of my next film will commence in the month of January. So I decided to spend my time with my relatives and celebrate Christmas in my native place. I am planning to act in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi films next year.”

Samuthirakani wants to direct Surya

Winning laurels with ‘Nadodigal’, filmmaker Samuthirakani has left no stones unturned. With his Telugu remake of ‘Nadodigal’ titledas ‘Sambo Siva Sambo’ close on the heels of completion, the filmmaker is much elatedworking with Telugu actor and has assured about working together for more projects in future.
So, why does he get stuck with prototyped ideas of working between themselves (Sasikumar) and the same group? Says Samuthirakani: ‘I have an idea about working with big stars, but it really took a long time to prove myself with the success. Now, I am so focused on penning a script for a grand film and have plans about roping in Surya. But it will take one year to complete script.’
‘Sambo Siva Sambo’ features Ravi Teja, Sivaji, Allari Naresh, Priyamani and others in lead roles. The film is slated to hit screens in late November or first week of December.

The Ultimate Star Ajith is back in town after a grueling shooting schedule in France. The star, along with the Asal crew, had been camping in France for over a month to shoot some important scenes and song sequences.
Sources aver that the choice of a director for his 50th film rests with Ajith. With Ajith back in Chennai, Kollywood is eagerly awaiting to know the star’s plans for his golden jubilee flick.

Director Kannan Kanden Kadhalai is the remake of Hindi blockbuster movie “Jab We Met” directed by Imitiaz Ali in Hindi version. Remaking the movies is not an easy task though only to an extent but the director however manages to suit the taste of the local audiences. Comparing the original version of the movie the director equally inserted as many scenes of the original version.
The movie plot is so simple and doesn’t have any heroism and punch dialogues but the screen will move among two pivotalcharacters (i.e) Bharath(Sakthivel) and actress Tamanna(Anjali). Bharath(Sakthivel) is a son of a wealthy entrepreneur who is depressed at life and decides to go no where in the globe. The movie begins when a man who has less to talk for his depressed life boards to a train met talkative Tamanna(Anjali) whose character is contradictory to each other. Anjali is a bold and kind hearted girl misses the train in the middle of the journey because of Bharath(Sakthivel) which leads him to take her to home town Theni.With many twists and tales they become close friends. Bharath(Sakthivel) a man has no place to go entertainingly loved by the entire Anjali family including her grandfather Ravichandran, dad Nizhalgal Ravi etc… Girls mind can’t read by anyone as a fact that Anjali decides to elope from her home to marry her lover boy friend Goutham (Munna). While eloping Anjali seeks the help of Sakthivel and the whole family mistakes that she was out of home to marry Bharath(Sakthivel). Fate plays a vital role in the movie as Sakthivel came to knew that Anjali had not married to Munna and was missing from her home then.
After her love failure the bubbly talkative Anjali becomes silent in nature on the contrast Sakthivel turns bubbly and talkative. Sakthivel on the other hand convinces Goutham to marry Anjali but the whole family of Anjali believes that Sakthivel and Anjali are joyfully married and leading a good life. The story twisted more when Anjali fells in love with Sakthivel. Whom she ties the knot Sakthivel or Gautham forms the rest of the film.
Actress Tamanna had given a dream role which she can act, dance, glam, emote, comedy etc… and she does her role without much justification. Actor Bharath after acting in ditched commercial movies has a solid plot to taste some success and does his job well. Santhanam as Mokkai Raju stir up laughter for the screen. Munna as Anjali’s boy friend has lesser scope in the movie does his part well. Comparing the music of original version “Kanden Kadhali” is little back but anyway the tunes are attracting for the local audiences. Cinematographer Muthiah visualized the exotic locations in splendor.
The emotions scene at the climax was very much absent with Kanden Kadhalai comparing the “Jab we Met”. On the whole the movie is a good entertainer to watch and it will attract all the youths more. With Sun Pictures promos the movie is a strong contender for the box office this season. The director manages to copy every sequence, costumes of both actor actresses and doesn’t even try to develop the script further.

Vijay And Dhanu To Launch Siddhu Audio

Followed by the success of ‘Angel John’, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj is set to witness the release of his Tamil film ‘Siddhu +2, First Attempt’. The film is produced by KBR Medias Pvt Ltd and recently Moser Baer joined the team for presenting it. With the film’s shooting completed, the audio will be launched on this Saturday (Oct 31) at Satyam Cinemas.Producer AVM Saravanan will be the guest of honor while members of TFPC: President Rama Narayanan, Sivasakthi Pandian and others), Kalaipuli G Sekaran and many others will grace over the occasion. Interestingly, the director has modified the story with a modern touch, making the villain a hero. That is, Vikram here plays the title character as Ravan.

Directors Support Tamil Meet

The Tamilnadu Film Directors Union has announced its full support to the World Classical Tamil Meet to be held next year. The Film industry will be participation avidly in this meet and the directors have laid out a plan for their contribution.Announcing this, RK Selvamani said, “We will be putting up a play with the participation of directors interested along with five minute films about the history and beauty of Tamil.”Present at the meeting were Lingusamy, Mysskin, Ameer, Madhesh, SP Muthuraman, Vikraman, Ezhil and others.

MSV On The Saxophone

MS Viswanathan has inspired many a film buff and his music is evergreen till today. Now a music director called S Nathan has taken MSVs music to another level.On Nov 6th, Nathan will be performing 30 songs of MSV’s on the saxophone in the presence of the maestro himself, at the Kamaraj Hall. Organised by Mega Giga Show and Nathan’s Blow and Blow, the evening will honour MSV in the presence of KS Ravikumar and other film personalities.Nathan has so far composed 6 music albums for US based cliesnt and is a flautist and saxophone player besides being a huge fan of MSV. Will the entry of Tollywood stars affect our actors?

Now, with biggest actors like Surya, Vijay and Ajith are preoccupied with more projects for next couple of years, our filmmakers had to really wander around with substantial scripts in hand and finding no actors to sign the deal with. This has literally makes them open-up for a different idea about launching the superstars of Telugu film industry over herein Kollywood.
If what we heard from certain sources is believed to be true, then our filmmakers are likely holding talks with Telugu actors like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun and many others to make a bilingual film with them in Telugu and Tamil.
At present, Vishnuvardhan has penned an excellent script for upcoming Telugu star ‘Allu Arjun’ and plans are to make the film simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. It seems that Aarya had recommended Allu Arjun for Vishnuvardhan has both of them have become so closer while shooting for a Telugu movie titled ‘VARUDU’. As well, Ravi Teja has already stated about working with Samuthirakkani and Sasikumar. Radha Mohan is set to make his comeback in Tamil film industry with Radha Mohan’s ‘Payanam’.
So our guys like Surya (he is specifically concerned about giving call sheets to successful directors and not newcomers), Vijay and Ajith (who wants only one release a year) will have to watch out for such talented actors, who can very well speak Tamil with best pronunciations.

I Pray Kamal Comes - P Susheela

The Dr P Susheela National Award, instituted by the singer last year, will be bestowed on SP Balasubramaniam this year. Announcing this news to the media, the soft spoken singer said, “Last year we gave the award to S Janaka amma in a ceremony at Hyderabad. This year we are happy to bring it to Chennai. A grand Innisai Iravu or musical nite will be held at the Wesley school grounds on Nov 14TH in which top singers will perform.”The proceeds of the show will partly go to the Andhra flood victims. The selectors this year are Balasaraswathi Rao, Jamuna Rani and actor Jamuna. P Susheela adds, “We have requested film personalities to grace the event. I am planning to invite Kamal Haasan and I pray that Kamal comes. SPB has sung many songs for him and has dubbed for him in Telugu as well, so it will be a special moment to see them together when SPB gets the award.”P Susheela also plans to introduce a Youth award for upcoming talented young singers soon. The South Scope Style Awards 2009 presentation took place in Hyderabad recently. It is worth a mention here that South Scope is a magazine promoted by a noted Tollywood producer. Some of the stars who took home the awards include Shriya Saran, Nayanthara, Dhanush, Prabhu Deva, Vishnuvardhan, Harris Jayraj, Raju Sundaram, and Devi Sri Prasad. Dhanush was spotted accompanied by his wife Aishwarya.The event, however, turned out to be livelier when Nayan walked in with Prabhu Deva. Kaveri and her husband Surya Kiran are producing a film titled Atyayam 6. Recently there was news on a website that an actress has acted top less in this film and this photo was also uploaded on this website. When asked Kaveri about this, she said,” It is true that this scene is there in the film. This scene is the turning point of the film. Only the back of the actress is shown in the film. The face of the concerned person cannot be seen.
The duration of this scene is only 4 seconds. You will know the importance of the scene if you see this film. I am also a woman and I will not keep the scene which will tarnish the image of a girl. There will be no vulgarity in this scene.
Now the Malayalam film Jangan which has Suresh Gopi and me in the cast has been released recently. I am acting in three Telugu films. I am doing a guest role in the Tamil film Kutty Pisasu. Shortly I will be doing a lead role in Tamil film.”

Pandiraj to direct new faces

After Pasanga, Pandiraj will be directing a film with new faces. Speaking about this, he said,” Pasanga has earned me a good name.

In order to retain this good name, I am taking some time to direct my next film. I went to my native place to write the story. The next film which I am directing will have a different back drop.

The story line will also be totally different from my earlier film. New faces will be starring in this film. I am giving importance for comedy in this film. I am yet to finalize the other details. Talks are going on with regard to this.

I have planned to commence the shooting of this film during the month of December. The International Film Festival is to be held next month in Goa.
My film Pasanga has been selected for screening in this festival. This film is also being sent for other film festivals.”

Sibling makes Sangeetha happy

Sangeetha is on cloud nine. The reason is- one more member from her family has entered filmdom and it is none other than her brother Parimal.
Speaking at the music launch of ‘Odipolaama’, a film which has Parimal and Sandhya in the lead, in Chennai on Wednesday, the actress said, “My brother needs all your blessings. I am hopeful that he will make it big.”
She added: “I am happy that my brother has done a fine job. And I am aware that hard work always pays rich dividends. I wish not just Parimal, but the entire team of ‘Odipolaama’ a great success.”
In his address, Parimal thanked his mother and sister for their cooperation. Music composer of the film D Imman too said he was thankful to his parents as they went to the extent of pledging a property to buy him a keyboard.

The first style awards of south, hosted by Southscope the first English south Indian film magazine turned out to be a star studded event with the crème-de-la-crème of cinema attending it on Sunday (Oct 25) at HICC, Hotel Novotel, Hyderabad.
The Southscope Style awards are being established to celebrate the sartorial splendour of South India cinema. The nominations were for the most stylish film, Stylish actor, Stylish actress, Stylish stunt choreographer, Stylish album, and stylish dance choreographer in all the four south Indian languages. Asmita Marwa, Wendell Rodricks, Prasad Bidapa judged the nominees according to given parameters. Apart from these awards, Suriya was adjudged as the Southscope Youth Style Icon (Male) and Nayanthara was the Southscope Youth Style Icon (Female).
